Positions of Responsibility allow us to acknowledge those pupils who consistently embody the ethos of the school. It is our aim that all pupils will attain a Position of Responsibility during their time at school and our Prefects and Monitors System ensures this happens even if some children have not previously held a position.
The pinnacle of the pupil leadership system is the Year 6 Prefect team. Elected by their peers and staff these young leaders are responsible for promoting all aspects of the school ethos and exemplifying the values of the Four Pillars to their peers.
Year 6 pupils are also invited to apply for the role of Monitors in academic and pastoral settings and these positions support staff in a variety of guided and independent ways. To acknowledge the value of these roles, there are a number of awards which highlight their service to the school and/or the wider community. These are for pupils who have contributed willingly to the ethos of the school throughout their time here and have been particularly effective in their roles as monitors.
The School Council, comprising representatives from each form acts as a channel of communication between the school’s Senior Management and pupil body. Regular meetings allow for the discussion and development of ways to improve the school.
Librarians, Sports Leaders, Team Captains, Choirs and Orchestras offer other opportunities for pupils to develop their leadership qualities and every child is expected to be involved with shaping their school community.
