The Pre-Prep school is for pupils aged 4-7 with pupils transferring directly from our Nursery classes. The Reception classes follow an enhanced Early Years curriculum which is designed to prepare them for progression into Years 1 and 2. In Reception, we nurture the children’s natural curiosity, creativity and critical thinking through fun, play-based tasks. This helps them become independent and to think for themselves. Both Reception classrooms have access to an outdoor space and our Forest School programme enables the children to learn in an outdoor environment, whatever the weather.
In the Pre-Prep our primary aim is to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment in which children can flourish to their full potential. We aim to develop a sense of independence, to instil confidence and to develop social skills, as well as encouraging children to explore and question the world. We also aim to enable our children to begin to develop attitudes and values which will lead them to become happy and responsible adults.
The Pre-Prep classrooms are located in a green and leafy part of the school grounds near to each other and to the field. Each class has its own qualified teacher and at least one teaching assistant. All pupils also benefit from the expertise of specialists throughout the school who teach French, Music, DT, ICT, PE, Dance and Drama.
