Well done to all pupils in Years 5 and 6 who took part in the Primary Maths Challenge this year.

We heard last term that fourteen pupils had been asked to go forward to the Bonus Round which took place in early February and consisted of a range of problems to solve including some fiendish questions.

We received the wonderful news last week that not only were pupils allocated six bronze and four silver awards, Sophie performed outstandingly and achieved a gold award.  Out of over 70,000 children who took part in the original challenge, only 167 gold awards were given so this places Sophie amongst the very highest achieving primary mathematicians in the country.

Our congratulations go to everyone who took part in what is a fun and inspiring challenge.  Pupils are already looking forward to next year’s challenge with its mix of serious maths and touches of humour.
