Success at Bromley Music Festival
Three of our choirs participated in the annual Bromley Music Festival on Friday 9th March.
The Pre-Prep Choir were the first to sing with an enthusiastic rendition of Roller-Ghoster and then a gentler contrast with ‘When a Knight Won His Spurs’. The judge commentated that the choir displayed a ‘real feeling for the words and impressive concentration’. The choir were thrilled when they were announced the winners of this class.
It was then time for the 'Junior Choir’ section of the Festival and our Chamber Choir sang three contrasting songs which included the ‘set’ song’ ‘Can You Hear Me?’ by Bob Chilcott. The children were delighted to win the Shield for this class.
Finally our Cantabile Choir sang ‘America’ and’ Wherever You Are’. The choir sang two technically difficult pieces with secure pitch and abundant musicality. Amongst many complimentary comments from the judge, the choir were told that their diction was good, tuning was reliable and they conveyed the character of the pieces very well.
The choirs have worked very hard this term and we have more exciting events planned for the future!
