Witches and Wizards at King's Preparatory School Rochester

Blackheath Prep were thrilled to be invited by King’s Preparatory School, Rochester to their ‘Witches and Wizards’ Orchestral Day.

Nine members of our School Orchestra were selected to attend including flautists, cellists, violinists, a trombone, a clarinettist and a percussionist. Prior to the event the children rehearsed the music which included ‘Hedwig’s Theme’ and ‘Lord of The Rings’.

On Monday 5th March we set off with great excitement, armed with instruments, music and costumes, ready to join instrumentalists from several other schools.

After being treated to a splendid lunch, we had our first full rehearsal. As soon as the children in the fifty-strong orchestra played their first note, we knew that we were in for a treat. Under the guidance of King's Head of Music, Mr Mountford, the children, cleverly disguised as witches and wizards, worked very hard and in no time were ready to perform to their parents.

The resulting concert was very impressive and the children thoroughly enjoyed their day as well as making new friends. We would like to thank all the parents who came to listen and support them.
