Year 4 Visit the British Film Institute

On Tuesday 6th March Year 4 attended The Science and the Seven Seas Event at the British Film Institute on London’s Southbank.

This interactive event allowed pupils to apply their scientific knowledge to practical situations through fun activities. The children were able to watch short films and then investigate scientific concepts from the national curriculum around topics such as animals and their habitats, plants, weather and seasons. They considered ideas such as what Jack’s beanstalk needed to grow and which animals are nocturnal. There was also an opportunity to engage in a practical demonstration to explore the concepts of light and shadows. An introduced afternoon screening of the Oscar nominated Aardman Animations film, The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists! completed the day. Year 4 really enjoyed this trip which demonstrated how their Scientific knowledge can be applied to real world situations.
