Author Jerome Monahan Visits Year 5
On Wednesday 22nd January, the Year 5 children took part in an ‘Active Shakespeare’ workshop with, author, ex-teacher and journalist, Jerome Monahan.
The workshop was fast paced, drama-based and all in all, a highly engaging experience. The children threw themselves into whichever role was thrown at them, whether it be: an angry Lord Capulet firing insults at his daughter Juliet, or one of the three witches in their opening scene in ‘Macbeth,’ or even the mischievous Puck casting a spell from, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream.’
The children learnt about Shakespeare in context and certainly left the workshop with more understanding about the language that Shakespeare uses in his plays. I look forward to seeing their follow-up work in class!
