Bebras Challenge 2019
Pupils from Years 3-6 recently took part in a global competition aimed at testing children’s skills with Computational Thinking.
Nationally over 260,000 pupils from Primary and Secondary schools participated in the Bebras Challenge to pit their wits against a variety of devilishly hard questions and analytical tasks. This was the first year that the School had entered the challenge and it has been well received by the pupils who are already excited about next year’s competition.
The results have just been finalised and published and Blackheath Prep pupils have achieved some fantastic scores. Every pupil has received a Certificate of Participation and some have been presented with their Certificates of Merit or Distinction. Three children have been recognised for being the Best in School. The school is also immensely proud of the accomplishments of eight Year 6 pupils who have scored within the top 10% nationally for their age group. They will now have the opportunity to represent the school in March 2020 at the University of Oxford Computing Challenge.
Congratulations to all of the participants and good luck to those participating in the Oxford Challenge.
