Girls Football Club Retain Their Title
Girls Football Club travelled to JAGS Junior on Friday 8th November in an attempt to defend their tournament title they had won 12 months earlier.
The team started off in a tight game against Dolphin but scored with the last kick of the game to win 1-0.
A comfortable 3-0 win against Rosemead was to follow, before a tight 0-0 draw with The Harrodian. The girls then finished off the group stage in style with a 4-0 win over Dulwich Hamlet.
Then onto the semi-finals with a game against Alleyn’s, where the girls scored early which settled their nerves before going on to secure a commanding 3-0 win and a place in the final against Oakfield.
The final was a fantastic affair and Blackheath were on the attack from the off. However, Oakfield’s defence was superb and it was goalless at half time. Blackheath’s quality was to show in the second half, as two quick goals got them ahead and they retained their title to become the first team to win the tournament for a second time.
The team is playing some amazing football at the moment and to win the tournament without conceding a goal is outstanding.
