Year 2 Visit St Paul's Cathedral

On Wednesday 16th October, Year 2 visited St Paul’s Cathedral to learn more about our History topic – The Great Fire of London.

In the morning, our guide explained how this was the fifth cathedral to be built on the site, with all the previous four having burnt down, the last one happening during the Great Fire of London in 1666.  We then dressed up to role play some characters involved in the Great Fire – Thomas Farriner, the baker, Samuel Pepys, the diarist, and King Charles II to name a few.  We also saw some artefacts that had survived the fire.  After lunch, we climbed over 300 steps up to the outdoor Stone Gallery and took in some fantastic views of the City of London.
