Year 6 Have Fun In The Sun In France
On Monday 13th May Year 6 departed for their residential week to Château du Broutel in France.
After a pleasant journey through northern France, we soon arrived and were enjoying our first activity at the Château. During the early part of the week we enjoyed a trip to the market in Etaples. The children all practised their French buying souvenirs at the market before we headed off for a picnic lunch on the fabulous beach at Le Touquet. The children were delighted to discover the beach on a particularly warm and sunny afternoon. We returned for an afternoon of raft building and canoeing on the Château lake. The next morning we headed to the Wheat Farm for an enjoyable time exploring the farm and plaiting wheat. Thursday brought another day of sunshine during which we visited the caves at Naours and ordered ice creams to eat by the windmill. We returned to the Château for another delicious French meal including an opportunity to try escargots and cuisses de grenouille (frogs legs).
On the final day of an action packed and hugely enjoyable week, we visited the local town of Rue for a treasure hunt in French and had our final French lunch. We then boarded the coach, waved au revoir to our friends at the Château and headed for home.
