Sevenoaks School Choral Workshop

The Chamber Choir spent a hugely enjoyable afternoon at Sevenoaks School earlier this week.

With two other Prep Schools, they took part in a carousel of vocal workshops before combining forces and singing a new work composed by the Director of Music, Christopher Dyer, as well as the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah with members of the school’s Sennocke Consort.

Singing in the Pamoja Hall, the wood-clad auditorium at the centre of the school’s Performing Arts Centre, the Chamber Choir had the opportunity to be coached by members of the school’s music department.  This was particularly useful in preparation for their upcoming outing to the Songs of Praise Young Choir of the Year competition.

Vocal gymnastics were practised in a rap round with great enthusiasm, delicious choc chip cookies were consumed and challenging vocal techniques were explored during rehearsal.  All the children then very much enjoyed performing their pieces to an audience of parents and other supporters.
