Last Christmas, we were unable to hold our Carol Service at St Michael and All Angels due to extensive refurbishment taking place. So, it was with great excitement that all Prep pupils walked to their rehearsal at the church last week. The interior of this beautiful Georgian building is freshly painted and is now beautifully warm and welcoming.
In the evening the children were joined by their families and friends to hear the Christmas story through words and music in the candlelit church. Rousing renditions of traditional Christmas carols were interspersed with a wide range of traditional and contemporary music from the school and choirs. Particularly entertaining were the rather cool camels of the Year 5 and 6 Boys Aloud Choir. The whole school songs were sung with enthusiasm culminating in a spectacular arrangement of the Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah which brought resounding applause from an appreciative congregation.
As the candles were extinguished and the children made their way home humming their favourite tunes, it began to feel a lot like Christmas was on its way.
