In the Nursery, the children have been learning about Diwali, the festival of lights.
It is a very exciting and colourful celebration and the children listened with great interest to the story of Rama and Sita. They have begun to understand the significance of lights and were keen to make and decorate a clay diva. Many children created their own Mendhi patterns, demonstrating a wonderful developing sense of design. As fireworks are part of Diwali celebrations and most of the children had recently experienced a firework display, they had fun exploring the paint programme to create firework pictures on the computer. We made Indian coconut sweets called Barfi and sang Diwali songs together. In Dance the children expressed themselves to Indian music, making animal and flower shapes with their hands.
