Year 2 Visit St Paul's Cathedral
On Wednesday 17th October, Year 2 visited St Paul’s Cathedral to support their History topic on the Great Fire of London.
During our workshop, the events of The Great Fire were brought to life through storytelling and role-play. The children especially enjoyed dressing up as different characters such as Samuel Pepys and acting out different roles in the story. During the tour of the Cathedral, the children discovered how Sir Christopher Wren designed the splendid masterpiece that is today’s Cathedral, following the Great Fire. They were amazed to see blackened sculptures that had been damaged in the fire and reinstated in the new Cathedral. A highlight for many was the climb to the Whispering Gallery and the chance to play whispering games with their friends. Despite being exhausted by climbing so many steps, everybody had a wonderful day!
