Extra-curricular activities play a very important role in the life of the School and all pupils are strongly encouraged to participate in our extra-curricular programme. There is a wide range of clubs available which are run by both external specialists and our own teaching staff. These clubs provide an excellent opportunity for the children to broaden their education with activities that they may not study as part of the curriculum during the school day. The range of clubs on offer changes every term which enables the children to participate in a number of different activities. Clubs take place every day after school and most run from 3.30pm to 4.15pm.
Central to this programme of activities are Music and Sport. A variety of sporting activities takes place every day after school and there is also squad training in football and netball for A and B teams in Years 5 and 6.
Pupils may join a wide range of choirs, including a Pre-Prep Choir and a Boys’ Choir, with the School enjoying considerable success in local and national music festivals and competitions. This has included performances in the BBC Songs of Praise School Choir of the Year competition and Barnado's National Choral Competition. A full Orchestra, String Orchestra, Wind Band, Recorder Ensemble and Jazz Group meet at lunchtimes and children who play an instrument are encouraged to belong to one of these. Flute, recorder, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French Horn, piano, violin, viola, ‘cello, double bass and percussion are taught by peripatetic teachers in a purpose-built music suite.
Individual Speech and Drama lessons, including the opportunity to take LAMDA examinations, are taught by peripatetic teachers before and after the school day.
