Year 3 Trip to Horton Kirby

On Wednesday 8th November Year 3 went to the Environmental Centre at Horton Kirby for their introductory workshop for their new science topic on rocks and soils.

The children spent the morning learning about the different types of rock and were amazed to find out there are three - sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic! They were then able to experiment with each rock type to see what happens when water is poured onto it.

After lunch the children had fun getting their hands dirty when learning all about soil and creating a recipe using the seven main ingredients they found in their own trays of soil.

Year 3 had a great day and enjoyed the chance to wear their wellies!
